- Places available are given in the next section.
- If a place is available, we will immediately invite the parents to our next
available appointment.
- If agreed, a letter is sent to parents within 3 days of their visit either
offering a place, suggesting the child is placed on a waiting list or not
offering a place.

| Admissions
Policy |
- The process of admission to the School is by application, interview or
visit to the school, and in some age groups, written assessment.
- Assessment of children from Reception and above is normally required.
- Admission to the School can be arranged at any time in the school year
subject to a place being available.
- If classes are full, parents can request to be placed on a waiting list.
- We would encourage interested parents to apply as soon as possible after
the birth of their child. Parents are contacted in strict order of application
date.
- Parents are invited to visit us as soon as contact is made with the School
regardless of the age of the child.
- Before a place is offered, the School will need to be satisfied that
parents will be able to meet the requirements of our contract with parents as outlined in the
relevant section of the School Handbook. We will also need to be
reasonably satisfied that there is enough family income for fees to be paid
without undue strain on resources.
A credit check is usually performed on all applicants to the main school (not
Nursery and Reception). If an assessment is required, there will also need to
be a good indication that the child will be able to make adequate progress
again without undue pressure being placed on the family.
- An offer of a place at the school is normally reserved for 7 days except in
cases where application is being made well in advance of the opening of a new
class. If the offer is not accepted in writing before this period finishes, we
will offer the place to the next family making an application. This is clearly
critical if, as in many cases, there is competition for 1 or 2 vacancies.

| Assessment of Children for
Entry |
Children from Reception and above are asked to attend the School
for an assessment. This will often be arranged to take place when the parents
visit the school. For children entering year 1 and above, the assessment will
take the form of a written test in English and Mathematics and will be based on
part of one of our internal end of year examination papers. We will also assess
each child's reading ability.
The purpose of the assessment is to ascertain the level of extra help that the
child would need upon joining the School since it is unusual for an applicant
to be of the same standard as children that have been at Beechwood since the
nursery years. |
| School Uniform |
| After acceptance at
the School, parents will receive details of the School's uniform requirements.
There is a summer and winter uniform all of which is available from the
School's uniform supplier. See the Uniform
Section of the Handbook for full details. Our uniform supplier
