English and Handwriting
Emphasis is placed on language development, both oral
and written, from the nursery classes up
Pupils are encouraged to relate and write about personal experiencesand short imaginative stories.until they have progressed to using the school's English syllabus in year 1.
This incorporates a variety of graded schemes with particular emphasis on comprehension and grammar.
The development of essay writing is promoted through an
assortment of visual stimuli and class group discussion.
Handwriting is taught as a subject through the use of handwriting exercises. The illustrations show a progression of handwriting skills starting in the nursery then moving on to year 1, 2 and 4.
