Kindergarten 1         K1       ages 5 to 6
Kindergarten 2         K2       ages 6 to 7

K1 is the equivalent of Year 1 in the maintained sector.

Age ranges are according to the academic year as defined at the start of section 2. For example the nursery starting in September 1998 will contain children with a birthday range from 1 September 1995 to 31 August 1996. If there is a year group with a parallel class then an extra letter ‘A’ is used to differentiate between them. For example the K1 year group would be split into K1 and K1A.

Section 2.2.2 Communications Policy
The School has the following formal arrangements for communicating to parents.

Parents’ Seminars
These are arranged for September of each year. Parents are requested to attend in year groups and details of the educational and organisational plans for the coming year are presented to parents.
This will include specific information and help regarding curriculum matters and our expectations of parent’s involvement.

Parents’ Meetings
Staff are available for meetings early in the morning or after School as outlined in other sections of the handbook dealing with making appointments with staff.
Formal Parents Evenings are scheduled to take place twice a year after the issuing of reports as follows:-
Spring Term               (January)
Other Terms            (June or September)

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss pupils progress with reference to assessment results. However parents are encouraged to make an appointment with the class teacher at any time to discuss their child’s progress.

New Child Induction
Parents of new children are met individually for a review approximately 1 month after joining the school.

Newsletters and Web Site
The School is committed to issue regular newsletters to parents, staff and other interested parties at half termly intervals

All comments with regard to the web site will be gratefully received.

The web site will contain all information that is given to parents on paper. Also various forms will enable requests to be made via email instead of on paper through the Main Office.

It is our policy to produce all documentation using HTML or pdf formats for use on the school Intranet.

Staff Team Meetings
These are organised as follows throughout each term:-

Team Meetings                               fortnightly intervals
Whole team meetings (all staff)     monthly intervals
Senior Management                       monthly intervals
