Communications within the Organization

Communications with Parents

Parents are always told at interviews or open days that we have an 'open door policy', but what does this mean ? If parents have a query or problem, they are encouraged to mention it to their form teacher before registration. If the matter cannot be resolved then, staff will arrange to meet parents either early in the morning or immediately after school. It is our policy that parents should not have to wait more than 24 hours to see staff or to receive a written reply to a letter.

Children are assessed on a continuous basis and through formal exams twice a year. These are followed by Parent's Evenings although we always say to parents 'do not wait for parent's evenings if you have a concern'.

Communications within the Whole Organization

The school is committed to the Investors in People Standard of which a major area deals with communications. We therefore have a formal communications policy covering parents, children, staff and any other organization coming into contact with the school.

Parents and staff are issued with the School Handbook when they join the school. This is intended to contain all aspects of school life including detailed information on day to day procedures, policies, school rules, contracts with parents and children and other reference information. It is a loose leaf document which is updated on a regular basis.

Another requirement of the Investors in People standard is a formal public commitment to planning. Our School Development Plan is included in the Handbook and consists of 6 month, 2 yearly and 5 yearly aims. Financial planning (budgets) is also included, although Beechwood Schools Ltd produces annual sets of accounts in the public domain as required by company law.
